About Our Brenham Ranch

As a Romantic Getaway, our true Texas original guest ranch in Brenham, Texas is steeped in over 125 years of history. Come experience your romantic getaway at Murski Homestead in Brenham, Texas!

Jakub Murski, Jr. emigrating from Poland in the late 1800s, journeyed to Brenham, purchased 150 rolling acres, and built his family’s homestead, still a working ranch but also, now a Texas guest ranch, out of long leaf pine and cypress. This guest ranch home, now offering Brenham lodging and Texas ranch weddings, has remained in the Murski family throughout the generations. It was lovingly restored to its original beauty (along with some modern conveniences) in 2001. Guests of Murski Homestead become part of living history, as they experience first hand the craftsmanship of Jakub Murski.

About the Innkeeper

Pamela Murski’s diverse background  and rich life experiences  have woven a colorful tapestry. As a child,  she lived in the city learning proper etiquette surrounded by culture,  while at the same time making weekend trips to the rural hometown of her mother, where she learned to appreciate the simple goodness of fresh air and fresh food. That appreciation grew when Pamela moved to the country with her parents. She found herself rising before dawn to help work the family farm and ranch, skimming cream from the raw milk produced by “Boots” the cow her brother milked twice daily, feeding livestock, gathering eggs, building fences, working the ranch and cattle, butchering and processing meats, and working the “organic” garden- before anyone knew what “organic” meant! She was taught the fine art of canning and preserving by her mother and still enjoys gathering grapes and dewberries from wild vines to make her delicious jams and jellies. Sewing and quilting year round, hauling water from the well, cutting and hauling firewood for the winter, gathering wild dewberries and wild grapes, hauling hay to store up for the winter….there was always work of some kind to be done on the ranch.

As a young married woman, she was introduced to the world of fresh herbs (growing up having only been exposed to basic dried herbs and condiments) and a whole new journey began, which now is fully incorporated into her world of cooking. Not only will she share lessons on food, but lessons on life in the country and in the city…the blending of two worlds!

After graduating from Texas A&M with a Masters, Pamela dove into organic gardening and cooking with herbs. After several years in the corporate world and owning and operating several businesses, Pamela left that world to restore her husbands family home and open it to travelers wishing for a taste of the country  to relax and refresh from their frenetic daily lives.

At Murski Homestead, soak in a relaxing getaway setting at a Texas ranch… Celebrate your elopement Texas style at an antique home in Brenham, TX in the country…Book a seasonal fusion style cooking class and expand your cooking repertoire— regardless of your pleasure, it’s a wonderful experience!
